Florida in February

We just returned from Florida, where we spent a week enjoying sunshine and warm temperatures while visiting friends and attending a conference at Word of Life Florida. Even though it's been a pretty mild winter here in Indiana, it can't compare to the beautiful weather we enjoyed during our week in the Sunshine State.

Our friends, Dean and Marilyn, had taken their new 5th-wheel RV down there to spend a couple of months at the RV park on the Word of Life conference grounds.

Above is a photo of Marilyn, Dean, and Doug relaxing outside the RV.

There were no rooms available at Word of Life for the week we were there, and no RVs available for rent in the RV park; so Doug and I were staying in a hotel about 10 miles away. We ate some of our meals with Dean and Marilyn in their trailer, some at restaurants, and some in the Word of Life dining room.

Doug and I did a little exploring one afternoon when there were no speaking sessions at the Word of Life conference center, and we found the delightful beach that was featured in my Florida Sunset post. Following are some other photos from that day.

The beautiful white sand beach at the Fred Howard County Park near Tarpon Springs

This gull was enjoying splashing in the water at the shoreline.

This bird (a sandpiper, perhaps?) was digging furiously in the sand, with little regard for the humans who were sitting so close.

A dolphin swimming past the beach, just off shore

The following two pictures are of the view to the east as the sun sank slowly into the west.

  1. It must have been hard to come home.

  2. It all looks so wonderful and very relaxing.

  3. What a nice area to be in. The beach looks delightful to stroll on.

  4. Looks as if y'all had a wonderful time - and what BEAUTIFUL pictures! Thanks Linda for sharing!

  5. Hi There, Just stopping by to say HI.... Hope you had a great Valentine's Day. We had a great trip--but it's nice to get home. I'm trying to catch up on some blog posts...

OH---I'd love to be there myself right now... Looks beautiful. Bet you all had a great time.

  6. Stephen - In some ways, it was hard to come home. But you know what they say, "There's no place like home."

Ruth - It was a good time. The speaker that week had a timely message and one that we needed. And the warm weather and sunshine were bonuses.

Steve - That beach made my week. It was so beautiful and just what I thought Florida should look like.

Diane - It was fun being with Dean and Marilyn and hearing the speakers at the conference and using our down time for exploring. I really enjoyed that week.

Betsy - Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I know how hard it can be to catch up on blogs when you've had an interruption to your daily visits.

  7. Just looked through all your Florida pictures. Really lovely! I'm itching for a vacation as soon as the madness stops here; there hasn't been much time to blog or follow, and I miss it! Thanks for the short "mental vacation" this morning!

  8. Deb - I've enjoyed many a mental vacation through other bloggers, so I'm glad I could help you out. :)

  9. Hilary - It was nice. Very nice. I did some sighing myself. :)
