Jenny's Wedding

Back in August, we attended the wedding of the daughter of my best friend, Sandra. It was Sandra and her daughter, Jenny, who pressured inspired me to begin blogging back in 2010.

The wedding was held at the Hotel Baker in St. Charles, Illinois.

We clean up pretty good, don't you think? But don't expect us to do it often.

Birds at Ouabache State Park

These images were all taken on April 17, 2015, at Ouabache State Park. I've identified them as best I could, but feel free to correct me if you believe my identification is wrong.

Ring-Necked Duck
The duck was too far away for a really good shot, but the reflections were nice.

Canada Geese at Ouabache State Park

These pictures are from two recent visits to Ouabache State Park, which is about an hour's drive from our home. We like to go there once every week or two to just spend a relaxing afternoon of reading and enjoying the birds and the serenity of the place.

The first two photos of a family of Canada Geese were taken on May 1, 2015.

The image below was taken six days later, on May 7th. Although it's not apparent in the picture, the goslings had grown significantly in that short time.

Back soon with more.

I'm Back!

Today marks the one-year anniversary of my discontinuance of this blog. For many months, the break from blogging brought a sense of relief. However, recently, I've felt the pull to begin again.

I'll begin with an update on my brother-in-law, Dennis, whose care was the primary reason I felt the need to take a leave from blogging last year. Dennis was released from his seven-month stay in the hospital last October and moved into the apartment that Doug and I had found for him. He's wheelchair-bound but managing nicely, with the help of a wonderful home health aide, who visits him several times a week. She goes to doctor appointments with him, takes him on shopping trips and on other errands, cleans his apartment, and just generally makes it possible for Dennis to retain his independence.

Although I've felt the desire to blog again, it has come with some reservations. Prior to my backing off from blogging a year ago, I had begun to feel overwhelmed with the amount of time required to read and comment on the blogs of those who so faithfully visited mine. Those who did me the kindness of visiting my blog deserved the same consideration from me, but the process was becoming more burdensome than enjoyable.

So, as I return to blogging, I need to say that, while I welcome your visits and your comments, and will read and treasure every one of them, I can't promise to return visit for visit or comment for comment. If your comment settings include an email address, I will reply by email. Otherwise, especially if you have a question about the post, I'll post the answer in the comment section of that post.

I realize that, with these disclaimers, there will be some who will prefer not to leave comments, and I totally understand that. No hard feelings.
