A Few More from the Reservoir

This set of photos is still from my walk at the reservoir on July 12.

This isn't a great shot of a Killdeer, but they're so fleet of foot and flight that I was pleased to get it.

I don't know what it is, but isn't it pretty?

A Widow Skimmer Dragonfly

This close-up shows that he was apparently dining on a smaller insect with transparent wings.

A group of horses was being driven back to the barn on an Amish farm.

A milkweed flower in the morning sunlight.

This wraps up the photos from my walk of the 12th. Guess I'd better get out there again. But next time, I'll use some insect repellent.

  1. i've read dragonflies eat a lot of mosquitoes - let's hope that was one. :) love the horses running! the best killdeer shots i've ever gotten was from inside my car. :)

  3. I'm not familiar with "killdeers" but that bird appears to have very large eyes considering its overall size. Great pics.

  4. I predict that your next walk at the reservoir will be every bit as productive as this one. You're photos of the dragonfly are amazing.

  5. Lovely photos as always, Linda, I find the dragonfly and the wild flower above it to be most appealing. Great details and perfect depth of the field! :)

The Killdeer looks a bit funny with its high legs and big eyes.

  8. You and that camera of yours sure are getting along famously. Beautiful snaps. And I'm still itchy whilst reading. I hope your bites are settling down some.
