Spring, when it came, was short lived. Still, it didn't fail to bring its beauty.
On April 30, we spent a few hours at Ouabache State Park. The trees hadn't leafed out yet, but that made it easier to spot and photograph these little yellow birds.

We loved the red of these buds against the blue sky. |

Ten days later, our crabapple tree was in full bloom. Several days after that, our azalea bush was putting on a show for us. The following collage provides a look at spring at our home.
The beauty of spring just seems extra special.Perhaps it's because we ave waited for it so long. Thanks for sharing these beauties.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're right about that long wait for spring making it extra special. It seems the shortest of seasons, but it outdoes itself in beauty.
DeleteLinda, what a beautiful back yard with all the color of spring...such natural beauty. I know you so enjoy that scenery that your back yard gives.
ReplyDeleteWe do love our back yard. We planted all the evergreens and the crabapple tree back there where we moved here 29 years ago. It's become a haven for birds, squirrels, and rabbits and gives us a lot of pleasure. The two stars of the whole thing are the crabapple tree and the azalea bush, especially when they're in bloom. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI love the violets!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandi. I almost didn't include that one in the post. ;)
Deleteyour yard is always so beautiful, maybe a yellow warbler in the first shots
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment on our yard, Steve. Doug deserves all the credit for keeping it trimmed and mowed. Doug thought that was a yellow warbler, too. Thanks for the confirmation.
DeleteYes we had many short lived Spring time...thankfully it arrived. Your photos are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kim. We'll take Spring whenever she decides to show up, won't we? ;)
DeleteYou have a very beautiful yard in the Spring (and during the rest of the year as well!).
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the new viewing platform at the Sinks, but I really did not break any rules to get the shot I posted. A wide-angle lens comes in handy at times!
Hi, George. Thanks to Blogger's elimination of notification emails when a comment is left, I didn't find your comment here until today! I'll have to pass your compliments about the yard to Doug. He's the reason it looks so nice.
DeleteLinda, your house and its premises must be a charming place to stay in, I always admire how well maintained it is. The colours are refreshing in the photos. They must be gone now, so good you've captured them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Petra. Doug grew up in a very poorly maintained house, and that experience has motivated him to work hard to keep our home looking nice. He's totally responsible for how well the house and yard are maintained. I'd be lost without him...in more ways than one. Yes, the brilliant greens and the blooms on the azalea are all gone now. I'm glad to have caught them when I did.
