Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

Our week at Gitche Gumee Bible camp last September was the warmest week of the season, according to camp workers, in spite of the late September date. So, when we stopped in Munising on our way home at the end of the week and boarded a boat for a late-afternoon cruise along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, we were able to sit quite comfortably on the top deck.

This post contains more photos than I usually include in a single post, so I'll keep my words to a minimum.

The next picture is a view of the Miner's Castle rock formation. I had previously shown this formation from an overlook on land here.

Can you see the Pirate? His nose is just above the waterline.

The Pictured Rocks cruise was a great way to wrap up the week. The next day, we had home in our sights.

  2. Linda, your photos are just what I need right now, and they are gorgeous and refreshing! It is pretty hot and humid here in Montreal right now and is supposed to be such for the next couple of days. Thank you so much for sharing, I really appreciate it.

  8. Tex - That little abandoned lighthouse is very picturesque, especially with the fall foliage surrounding it. We loved the rock formations, too; and the waterfalls were an extra bonus. It's a good cruise.

Linda - I'm glad you found the photos refreshing. We've had some hot and humid days here, as well. Tomorrow is supposed to be slightly cooler but with significantly lower humidity. I'm looking forward to that!

Thank you, Margaret. There was a lot to see on this cruise.

    Thanks, Ruth.

George - We were blessed with calm waters and warm temperatures and the perfect time of day to get the best lighting on the rocks. I'd recommend the cruise if you and Betsy ever get up to the UP.

Petra - I like the way you said it..."the perfect dot" behind our week at camp. It truly was.

Gail - There must have been some solid ground between the main bluff and the tree's home at one time. Its situation seems very tenuous now. But it's an interesting sight to see.
