On our recent visits to Ouabache State Park, we've seen a lot of these tiny wildflowers. They're so small that I can't get down to their level, so my photos are all taken looking down on them. Maybe one of you will be able to tell me what they are. But I think you'll agree that it's not necessary to know their correct identification in order to enjoy their loveliness.
This gives you an idea of their small size.
Update: Many thanks to Margaret Adamson and TexWisGirl for identifying this plant as Prunella Vulgaris (commonly known as "Self-Heal"). Click here to see what another blogger posted just yesterday about the healing benefits of this little beauty.
HI Linda Yes this is a lovely little flower. I am not an expert on wild flowers however I think this is Self Heal- Prunella vulgaris. The name Prunella is from Brunella, the German for quinsy, a disease the plant was said to cure.
ReplyDeletePrunella vulgaris has been used in herbal medicine for many ailments, including kidney, liver and gall bladder problems, as a muscle relaxant, to lower fever, stop bleeding, and aid healing fo wounds.
Check it out and see what you think.
Big things can come in small packages, a great find
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what they are but they sure are lovely. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletecheck out this post that i just saw yesterday. i'm not sure if it's the same thing but looks like it might be...

ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful, whether identified or not. Some of the people reading this blog obviously know their flowers a lot better than I do.
ReplyDeleteThey are fragile and lovely, Linda. Thank you so much for sharing.

Great details, Linda. How many of these little flowers we pass by without noticing... The plant grows also here in the Czech Republic but I didn't know it has healing effects. Good to learn something new and helpful.
