Denali National Park

Our visit to Denali National Park was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska in 2007. It was the end of August, and the tundra was putting on its fall colors. The Alaska Brown Bears were devouring berries as if their lives depended on it, which was most likely the case.

The driver of the bus that took us into the parts of the park where private vehicles are not allowed even said that he had never seen so much wildlife on any other tour that he had driven. Here is a sampling of photos from that day.

  3. Beautiful photos, Linda... I hope we get there someday.. You got some fabulous pictures of the wildlife up there, didn't you???

Did you get to see the "High One"--or did the clouds cover it?????

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  5. Hilary - That fox was a lucky capture. He walked out onto the side of the road and posed long enough for a busload of folks to get a shot of him. I was thrilled to get such a good one because the moment was soon lost.

Steve - With your love of nature, I'm sure you would love a visit to Alaska.

Betsy - The "High One," as you call it, was covered in clouds the day we were there. Someone had told us before we went that, if you see the mountain, you won't see wildlife, and vice versa. It proved to be true for us. We saw lots of wildlife but not the mountain. But, if we had had to choose one or the other, we would have chosen the wildlife.

  6. Well, you confused me (not so hard to do, huh?). You got me used to looking for an animal in every photo, so when I got to the first one that I couldn't see an animal in, I thought it must be reallllllly small, so I enlarged the picture and looked at every little blade of grass, looking for that small whatever it was I was supposed to see. I finally went on, defeated because I couldn't find it, and then there were others without animals and I realized it wasn't ME who was crazy .. it was YOU!!! I feel so much better. Nice pictures, but be clearer with your instructions next time, okay? ;p

  7. Sandra - You made me laugh. I wish I could have seen you examining that picture for the animals that weren't there. I actually did consider leaving out the scenery shots, but then I reread my introduction and decided the part about the fall colors in the tundra was sufficient reason to leave them in. Sorry for the eye strain, though. I'll try to be clearer in the future. :)
