Hanauma Bay, Hawaii

Here are some more photos-from-slides from our 1987 Hawaiian honeymoon. These were all taken at Hanauma Bay.

Hanauma Bay may not be the most beautiful place on earth, but it's certainly one of the most beautiful I've ever seen.

  3. The colour of the water is amazing. I see too many people on the beach, for my liking. Wait a minute,I am not a beach person ,even if there were no other people.

  5. I would have to say that Hanauma Bay is beautiful -- period. The different shades of blue in the water is fascinating. It's obviously a very popular spot. Your photos are wonderful.

  6. Stephen - Your fantasies can come true in Hawaii. :)

Theresa - It just seemed like we needed a break from the snow and ice of the season. :)

Ruth - It's a large beach with lots of space for all those people. I've never thought of myself as a beach person either. But the waters in Hanauma Bay are a delight to snorkel in, with so many amazing fish. And to sit in the shade of a palm tree with a good book (and a new husband), just enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of the ocean...well, it could make a beach person out of even you. :)

Gail - You know what they say...home is where the heart is. Hawaii is a magical place to visit. But, if you lived there, where would you go on vacation? :)

George - I think those varying shades of blue are caused by the presence of live coral in the waters. Whatever it is that creates those colors, it's truly a beautiful place.

  7. That is a great place for a honeymoon. I've never been there but wanna go.
I don't have a single picture from our honeymoon (did they have cameras in 1973?). But, the pictures in my mind are still clear.

    1. Hi, GQ. Yep, that's the good thing about those mental snapshots...they don't seem to fade over time like the others do. The downside, though, is that you can't put them on your blog. :)
