Tetons & Yellowstone

When we left Dubois, Wyoming on August 17, we drove to and through Grand Teton National Park, on our way to Yellowstone National Park. The views of the Teton Mountains were much clearer on this day than they had been when we made a day trip there a few days earlier.

Leaving the Tetons and entering Yellowstone via the south entrance, we stopped for a few pictures at Lewis Falls.

Later, after a stop for supper at the cafeteria at Lake Village in Yellowstone, we drove through Hayden Valley on our way to our motel in West Yellowstone. Buffalo on the roadway were causing huge traffic jams.

Following is video footage from this day, including the Tetons, Lewis Falls, and a Yellowstone traffic jam.

I'll have more from Yellowstone next time.

  2. "It is a far piece from Montana to New Mexico astride of a horse, but I put together a skimpy outfit and headed west for Virginia City and Alder Gulch. A day or two I worked there, and then pulled out for Jackson’'s Hole and the Teton Mountains." - Sackett, Louis L'Amour
See, your photos and the video footage are perfect companions for reading westerns. Love the clouds in the first photo, too. What a traffic jam! It looks thrilling and kinda scary at the same time.
Thank you for sharing, and have a great weekend!

  8. Tetons are so impressive, Linda, and I had to smile at the Buffalo traffic jam. When nature calls, there is little to be done. :)

    1. Petra - On a clear day, it's hard to get a bad photo in the Tetons. They're truly magnificent. In our national parks, the wildlife always have the right of way. These traffic jams are a regular occurance in that particular area of Yellowstone, especially as night approaches.
