A yellow wildflower, growing on the riverbank
I loved the blue in this one.
I just liked the way the light was hitting these leaves.
I thought these looked like little brides. (Update: This flower is a Showy Orchis.)
This waterfall is usually just a trickle of water flowing down from the hillside next to Tremont Road.
Lynn Camp Prong Falls
This three-tiered waterfall is just up the trail from Lynn Camp Prong Falls
All lovely but the colours of the flowers just pop so beautifully. The ones you see as brides, I see as white hummingbirds drinking from purple flowers.

ReplyDeleteYou were in the Smokies at a great time for both the flowers and the waterfalls. It's been a while since we hiked Middle Prong trail -- we're going to have to do it again soon.

Hilary - Thanks, my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed the wildflowers. I still see a bride in the top center flower, but I can grant you some hummingbirds in the others. :)
ReplyDeleteGail - The Smokies had received high rainfall before we arrived, so the waterfalls were especially lovely on this trip. Give Mississippi another chance someday after they've had some rain. :)

George - We really hit it perfectly for seeing the waterfalls. We missed the redbuds and most of the dogwoods, but there were enough wildflowers to satisfy us.
Betsy - I think it did work out that way, after we had to postpone our trip twice due to illness. The Tremont area is one of our favorites, too.
Oh my! Each of these pictures is a winning shot. I love the flowers but the waterfalls are also so beautiful.

ReplyDeleteAs for the flowers, I know just the first one, I guess it's the Creeping Buttercup or at least it belongs to the buttercups family. We have plenty of them here.

DeleteHello Linda, I am a first time visitor from another blog site and enjoyed the nature photos. The yellow wildflower looks like a buttercup and the blue ones could be blue eyed grass or asiatic day flower. We took a brief trip to the Great Smokey Mtns last fall and wish we had more time.
