More from the Big Island, Hawaii

Here are a few more photos from our 1987 honeymoon in Hawaii. I believe that all of these were taken on the Big Island.

I don't know what it is, but isn't it beautiful?

  1. Awesome photos Linda! The clarity is very good even they are old. The lava’s road block was impressing… the sunset shot was spectacular.

  3. Linda, what a magical place to honeymoon! From the cliffs to the lava road to the sea, I can't imagine a more perfect place for such an occasion. The sunset is jaw-dropping. Wow.

  6. Thank you, Jeevan. These photos were scanned from slides, which of course were taken with a film camera. I was very pleased with how well they came out. The folks on that island have to deal with active volcanoes all the time. I guess they're used to it.

Rute - I agree that the lava flows aren't exactly beautiful, but they're pretty awesome to those of us who've never been near an active volcano before.

Gail - Thanks so much. You're always such a great encourager.

    Thank you, Theresa.

Stephen - It affected me that way, too. As we walked out on the lava, it was still hot under our feet, and there were occasional steam vents emitting hot steam. Walking on it probably wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done.

  7. The Lava Flow on Roadway looks unbelievable. The contrast of the lumpy lava and the neat road...

    The flower is beautiful, Linda.

    1. Hilary - The shores of the Big Island are continually growing due to new lava flows. It truly is amazing to see in person.
