Waterfalls

Doug and I have a fascination with waterfalls and seek them out whenever we have the opportunity. Here are a few that we have enjoyed.

Place of a Thousand Drips - Smoky Mountains

Indian Flats Falls-Smoky Mountains

Abrams Falls-Smoky Mountains

Laurel Falls - Smoky Mountains

Grotto Falls - Smoky Mountains

North Clear Creek Falls - On the "Silver Thread" scenic byway from Alamosa, Colorado to Montrose, Colorado

  1. There certainly are an abundance of falls in the Smokies. Such beautiful images. Bring me with you next time? ;)

  2. Cascading rivers and waterfalls do abound in the Smokies, Hilary. Some of the falls are visible from roadways, but most require a hike. Start working those legs and making plans to join us for our spring trip! :)

  4. Out on the prairie-There's just something about waterfalls, isn't there? I'd love to see some of your photos from the Smokies.

  5. You are right, Linda. There is just something about a waterfall that is fascinating. These are wonderful photos. I know when you and Doug look at each one it must take you right back to that moment, and probably the sounds as well as the view. I remember the picnic we enjoyed down there by that lazy river with all the boulders in it. Shady, warm, a babbling brook, good food, fun company -- it doesn't get any better than that. :)

  6. Ah yes, Sandra, I do remember that picnic. It was a nice break from the heat of that week. Waterfalls and babbling brooks are just refreshing to look at, and they do have a sound of their own, too.

  7. Gorgeous photos, Linda. We have seen all of those except the last one. Grotto has always been one of my fav's simply because it is not as well-known as others in the Smokies. When we went to Grotto--we were the only ones on the trail...

Have you been to Henwallow? It's near Cosby. We've also been to many on the south side of the Smokies near Cherokee... There are some great waterfalls in that area.

    Thanks for sharing such beauty...
    Hugs,
    Betsy
P.S. If you want to see all of our waterfalls, go to my sidebar, scroll down to Favorite Sites an click on Waterfalls. I think we have them stored by the year. We've seen over 430 different ones since about 2001.

  8. Betsy, that last one was in Colorado, not the Smokies. I probably should have put that in a separate post.

We have been to Henwallow. It's not a favorite, though. It's a long two miles, with not much of a reward at the end.

We've been to the waterfalls over by Bryson City. Not sure if those are the ones you were thinking of when you said "near Cherokee."

I'm looking forward to checking out the waterfalls on your site.
