How Many Creams?

Ordering food at a fast-food drive-thru can be challenging. The speaker systems have come a long way, but there are still those occasional times when there are communication difficulties between the customer and the restaurant employee. Here's a sample of one of those instances from a few years ago:

Drive-thru guy:  Order when you're ready.

Doug:  I'd like a senior coffee with cream.

Drive-thru guy:  How many creams?

Doug:  One

Drive-thru guy: How many creams?

Doug (leaning out the car window):  One

Drive-thru guy: HOW MANY CREAMS?

Doug (now hanging half-way out the car window):  ONE!!!
Drive-thru guy gives us our order total and tells us to pull around to the window.

When we arrive at the window, we find the guy inside laughing.

He says:  I thought you were saying "What?"

  1. That's too funny.. a little dim on the drive-thru guy's part, but funny.

I remember a funny situation with friends at a McDonalds drive-thru once. A faint voice came over the speaker asking for our order. The driver leaned out of her window to respond. We heard the voice again - still too quiet to really understand - it sounded distant. The rest of us in the car began to catch on long before the driver did. We glanced outside the window and started laughing hysterically as our friend began yelling her order... directly into the trash can.

  2. Hilary-Now THAT'S too funny! You gave me a wee-hours-of-the-morning giggle. By the way, what are we both doing up at this hour?

  3. Linda -- It's all about one's perspective, isn't it. You call 1:30 a.m. the wee hours of the morning -- I call that LATE at NIGHT! And I call where I am right now (5 am) the wee hours of the morning and you would prob
ably call THIS the middle of the night!

A bad memory is such a blessing. I remembered your story but I didn't remember what the problem was, so it was fun to hear, just like the first time.

    Loved Hilary's story too.

  4. Sandra-That story came to mind yesterday, as we were going through a McDonald's drive-thru on the way to Pigeon Forge. I'm glad you enjoyed it...again. Hilary's story is hilarious. It even made Doug laugh.

  5. Have a good time in Pigeon Forge. When we went to vote this morning Jim's brother Denny and your friends Kay and Dave were in line with us -- old home week!
