The driver was sitting in it and I asked if he minded my taking a photo of his horse. He kindly invited me to pass my son to him to take a seat beside him for a photo of the two of them together. I thanked him and took him up on his offer. A woman passed by admonishing me for snapping the photo saying that "they don't like having their photos taken" as if the man weren't right there within earshot. She must have thought that my son was also Mennonite. :)

It's one of my cherished photos. How cherished you might ask? I just now realize that I haven't seen it in years. ;)Hilaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12787493532006658679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9031302234429148594.post-3640494054031618362012-08-08T21:14:31.211-04:002012-08-08T21:14:31.211-04:00LOL @ Stephen Hayes. Amazing that people still live like this. I've never heard of the Amish people so I looked up some information and I'm totally amazed. Have you known that the number of the Amish population has risen from approximately 5 000 in 1920 to 249 000 in 2010 and is rising all the time? Wow. They have a lot of children so that might be the reason but still, there must be more to it. In comparison with today's society, their lifestyle is much simpler and has given rules, moreover the community takes care of its members through their whole life. I know that reality might not be that ideal but I liked what I read.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
